All things that are now big, have been once small. Just like the Redwood being the biggest tree in the world, it had also grown from a small seedling on the soil. BTU Industries is now known as a big company of worldwide proportions, where its influence has been known in over 30 countries. However, more than 60 years ago, its beginnings were rather ordinary.

BTU Industries had started in the year 1950, in a different location from Billerica, Massachusetts. In Cambridge, on the same state, the company has created small ovens not for cooking, but for heating different things that are used for laboratories, hospitals, paints, textiles, and rubber. It was in demand back then since it was being catered and offered by the local market. As early as 1970, they have focused into creating semiconductor manufacturing equipment that have attracted so much attention in the growing industry of electronics like TVs, radios, and other components. They have transferred to their current headquarters in 1972. The company was also recognized in the NASDAQ Global Market as BTUI in the year 1989.

The company never showed signs of slowing down especially when they were able to pioneer the creation of the use of convection and closed-loop convection in making a solder reflow. They also introduced the industry’s first lead-free reflow furnaces. The firsts and discoveries have made BTU Industries expand in a fast pace, where they even opened a manufacturing site in Shanghai, China. Currently, they are still dominating the industry as they research on utilizing the next generation carbon-free technology.
